Mock Fire Drill

A successful fire drill was carried out at Kindergarten Starters in association with the Civil Defence  at 9 a.m. on 11th June, 2012. Five thousand students from Grades KG1 to 5 assembled in a span of 6 minutes. Staff members guided students to the assembly points and held up a green card to indicate that all students were assembled safely. The ancillary rescue team combed the corridors and classes and reported to the Administration Officer who then sounded the all- clear.

Students and staff witnessed how a fire is extinguished and how the injured are transported to the hospital in an ambulance. The children cheered as they saw the firemen in action and some of them had the opportunity to operate the fire extinguishers. Students learned to use the powder extinguishers as well as the carbon-dioxide extinguishers.  A mock drill of transporting an injured person being carried on a stretcher to the ambulance was also witnessed by students. Students learned the emergency numbers to be dialed in the event of a fire and had a first-hand experience of what happens in the event of a real fire.

It was a wonderful learning experience for all our students and a preparation in the event of a fire. We are grateful to the Civil Defence, the Search and Rescue Team, The Dubai Police and the Ambulance Squad for the wonderful coordination and the prompt action.
