Management Team

GEMS experience and expertise in education management across a variety of international curriculum ensures that infrastructure and resources in all schools meet high teaching and learning standards.

The primary focus of the education management team is to create policies and operating structures that meet world class standards of high quality education. The team also coordinates the entire range of school operations to ensure seamless integration of all services and provision.

Due to our international reach GEMS is able to recruit high calibre professionals from around the world. GEMS most valuable resource is our team of dynamic education professionals that steer the high standards of teaching and learning in all GEMS schools.

Regular assessment and training programmes provide employees with opportunities for professional growth and a platform to develop new skills and ensure perfromance of high professional standards.


Meet The Kindergarten Starters Management Team


Lawrence W. Hartnett
KGS Principal

Principal

Mr. Hartnett holds a Masters Degree in Arts, a B. Com and Bachelor of Education degrees from the University of Calcutta.  He has more than 25 years of teaching, administrative and leadership experience in education.  Prior to joining GEMS and TKGS in September 2002, he looked after a group of schools under the Assembly of God Church in Kolkata, India.

He has been a Press Manager, Freelance Journalist, Copywriter, as well as a Purchase and Sales Officer in a mini steel plant.  He has served on the Boards of several academic councils of schools and colleges, charitable organizations and other bodies.  He was awarded the Frank Brothers Principal of the Year Award at The Telegraph School Awards for Excellence 2001 in Calcutta, India.

Mrs. Farzana Fazal
KGS Headmistress

Headmistress

Mrs. Fazal joined KGS as the Headmistress on September 1st, 2001. She is a graduate from Loreto Convent College in Lucknow and has been in school education for the last 19 years.

Prior to joining KGS, she was with the Ryan Group of Schools, New Delhi, where she was Headmistress of the Primary Section.


Mrs. Urooj Hussain

Mrs. Urooj Hussain is associated with the GEMS schools since 1981. She is one of the founder members of the Kindergarten Starters. She heads the KG Department with over 1000 students in her charge. She conducts an independent KG assembly. She is well organized and efficiently conducts the Academic and co-curricular activities programme for the KG. Department.

Mrs. Joy John
KGS Supervisor KG 2

Supervisor KG 2
Mrs. Joy John is currently at The Kindergarten Starters, Dubai as a KG 2 Supervisor. She has a degree in B.Sc (Spl) and Montessori Training. She worked in India as a Teacher for five years and then moved on to Muscat as Teacher and Captain for Scouts and Guides at Indian School Al Ghubra for five years. She worked in Our Own English High School Dubai for six years as a Teacher prior to joining KGS.

Mrs. Fatema Chadha
KGS Supervisor Grade 1

Supervisor Grade 1
Mrs. Fatema Chadha is working for the GEMS Group for more than a decade. Presently she is the Supervisor for Grade I with 700 students in her care. She plans and organizes the academics and activities for Grade I. She has also organized five Summer Clubs successfully for the school.

She had been working previously with the Our Own English High School, Dubai. She was transferred when the Kindergarten Starters was founded.

Mrs. Queenie Phillips
KGS Supervisor Grade 2

Supervisor Grade 2

MA, B.Ed from Gangotri - Mysore University, India. She began her teaching career in 1979 and has since been involved in the field of education. She has a record of 27 years of experience in Primary education and administration as well as in adult education.

Mrs. Phillips has served in two of the country’s distinguished schools, one of them being ‘Clarence High School, Bangalore, South India’. The first 6 years she worked as a Primary school teacher and moved on to be the Primary Head for the next 11 years. She taught for a brief while in the Middle school of Hebron School, Ooty, South India, a school that followed the National Curriculum for England.

Worked as ‘English Language Trainer’ at the Emirates In-flight Catering Co. LLC, Dubai. In May 2002 she joined The Kindergarten Starters, Dubai as Supervisor for Grades II and III.

Her every endeavor has been to make the educational process productive and purposeful. Through her leadership and untiring efforts her emphasis is to develop the students who are excited about learning and who will go on to be life long learners. Mrs Phillips believes – ‘throughout my career I have always adhered to the principle that everyone in the organization must focus on the child being the central point of reference.’

Bakshi

 

Miss Mukta Bakshi
Supervisor Grade 3
    

Miss Bakshi holds a Masters Degree in Education (M.Ed.), a B.A. from Delhi University and has studied Child Psychology as well. She began her teaching career in 1999 and has since been involved with the field of education.
She has worked in Africa and India and recently joined TKGS and GEMS on 01 September 2008.
Prior to TKGS she was making an effective difference in the field of education as Pre-Primary Supervisor for an International School in Faridabad, Delhi.
Having had the exposure of the western system of education in Africa and C.B.S.E. in India; she believes in working towards creating a Teaching – Learning environment that will not only deliver information but will also explore and tap the learning potential of each child to help him/her achieve the maximum and develop him/her holistically. She says “ My mantra for Teaching – Learning has always been inspired from a quote by Confucius : “I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand”.”
She received the “Best Teacher” certificate and an Excellence Award in the Field of Education from her previous schools and Manav Rachna Educational Society, Haryana respectively.

Mrs. James
Supervisor Grade 4 & 5

After completing her  B.A and then her T.T.C. from St Mary’s Teacher Training College in Pune, Mrs. James worked for 5 years in Pune. Later she moved to Dubai in ‘98 and joined Our Own English High School, Dubai where she  worked for a period of 9 years.

She strongly believes that everyone is born with a special talent. As a teacher she always looked for her students’ strengths rather than their weaknesses. Her teaching career has been most enjoyable and enriching.

In January ’07, she joined The Kindergarten Starters, Dubai as the Supervisor of Grades 4 and 5. She says 'I try and apply this maxim of the Chinese Philosopher Lao Tsu – ‘To lead people is to walk beside them’ and use every opportunity to bring out the best in my department.
